Our first ever annual gala was a fantastic success by any measure. We raised $54,898 for our two projects, the preschool at Saponé, Burkina Faso, West Africa, and for building a high school at the O'Farrell Community School in southeast San Diego. We know can fully fund our portion of this year's budget at Saponé, as well as helping fund the initial planning stages at O'Farrell. Auctioneer Bill Menish did an incredible job charming our guests into spectacularly generous bids for our donated items, including raising $6,250 for the Aardvark Safari trip to South Africa when it was won by raffle and redonated.
