Hands United for Children is having its first fundraiser of 2012 at the Fairbanks Ranch Country Club on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 6:00 pm. We aim to raise $77,000 for a preschool to benefit 90 children in Saponé, Burkina Faso, in conjunction with BiSongo, an education non-profit organization. Additional funds raised will benefit the O'Farrell School, a San Diego County charter school focused on providing underprivileged children with a path to college. As an organization our work has focused exclusively on helping children in Africa, whose needs are clear and urgent. We have decided to expand the scope of our giving to children in the U.S. who are also in clear and urgent need of help. To that end, we have joined with the O'Farrell Community School in southeast San Diego to provide funds for the building of a high school. O'Farrell's mission is to provide a path to college for some of the least advantaged kids in the county, through building a K-12 school focused on their particular needs.
