Hands United for Children is having its first fundraiser of 2012 to help build the first preschool in the county of Saponé in Burkina Faso, West Africa. Ninety children will directly benefit from this initiative. We need to raise $77,000 to fund this project ($52,000 for construction and $25,000 for ongoing support), which is part of an long-term relationship with BiSongo, an education non-profit organization. While the proceeds of this first fundraiser will be mostly dedicated to the preschool, we will also be presenting our first project in the United States, at the O'Farrell Community School in southeast San Diego. We have committed to help them build a high school, and to work with on ongoing projects to help sustain their specific programs (free meals, free uniforms, free after-school activities, free bus tickets) which enable these less privileged children to succeed despite obstacles.
